Illinois Tech professor recognized for innovations in high-dimensional integration and approximation and for scientific leadership.
Illinois Tech Professor Fred Hickernell was named to the 2026 class of Fellows of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). The distinction recognizes his mathematical and statistical innovations in high-dimensional integration and approximation, as well as his scientific leadership.
The Illinois Tech article also highlights the open-source software developed by Hickernell’s research group and collaborators, including QMCPy, which makes quasi-Monte Carlo methods available in Python.
